Advent at Café FIKA: Light, Warmth, and Swedish Christmas Spirit
Advent is a cherished tradition in Sweden that marks the beginning of the Christmas season. The word ‘advent’ means ‘arrival’ and evokes the anticipation of Christmas. Today, the Swedish tradition of four candles, lit each Sunday before Christmas, has been firmly established since the late 19th century.
Each Sunday, a new candle is lit in the Advent wreath, counting down the weeks until Christmas and symbolizing the return of light as well as the preparation of homes for the holidays. Advent is a time for calm, sharing, and enjoying Swedish fika.
At Café FIKA, we celebrate Advent throughout December with freshly baked saffron buns, gingerbread cookies, and glögg. Christmas music and candles create a warm atmosphere, and our counters are overflowing with homemade treats to experience a Swedish Christmas.

Come in from the cold and experience a warm Swedish Advent at Café FIKA.
